"The aim of education is the knowledge, not of facts, but of values."
Hello! My name is Dave Toczek and I am the 7th grade homeroom teacher. Here at St. Joseph Schoool, I teach Language Arts & Social Studies. I also help students create our annual edition of The Paw Print school yearbook. I hold degrees from Penn State in Journalism with a minor in English and a Secondary Education degree from Bloomsburg University. As a proud alumni of St. Joseph School, I know firsthand the family atmosphere, invaluable morals, and quality of learning that is fostered here.
In Language Arts, we focus on all the critical aspects of clear, effective writing and language including spelling, vocabulary, and grammar mechanics. Students are required to write academic, as well as creative pieces throughout the year while being exposed to a wide variety of literature from around the world.
In Social Studies, we study American history, from the earliest periods of Native Americans all the way up to present day. There is a strong focus on Current Events, World Geography, and Debate. Students learn what it is to be a citizen of the United States and the rights and privileges which accompany that. Discussing current issues in our world puts history in perspective and provides context with which to approach the important issues of our present day.
