What we are learning for the month of May
Our lists include: words ending with ed/ing, and prefixes re/un.
We will work on Chapter 7 concentrating on word study and research.
We will be perfecting our cursive writing to get ready for third grade!
Chapter 10 and 11 wrap our Math books. Chapter 10 is on data and graphing. Chapter 11 is all about geometry. Any remaining time will be spent on expanding our math skills learned this year.
We will be taking our Theme 5 Test in the beginning of May and spend the remaining time on Theme 6.
In class we are finishing Beverly Cleary’s “The Mouse and the Motorcycle” and we will be writing a book report on this fantastic story.
Congratulations to the students who received their First Holy Communion!!
We will be wrapping up in our Eucharist books and
moving back into our “We Believe” workbooks.
We’ll begin our Earth and space unit. We will wrap up science
with an introduction to matter.
We will wrap up with United States Symbols.
About your teacher:
My name is Mrs. Julie Ridings and I will be your child’s 2nd grade teacher this year. I have a dual degree from Bloomsburg University in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I have taught 1 year in a public school setting and 7 years teaching at another Catholic School. This is my fourth year teaching at Saint Joseph’s School and I look forward to teaching your child many new skills and concepts throughout this school year. My teaching methods are based on a positive learning atmosphere in the classroom with respect for faith, children and teachers.
