Third Grade rocked online learning!
Since the first day of PA school closures, SJS has been working hard. We started off completing Flexible Instruction Day packets. Then moved into teaching new material via videos. Now we have moved to a program called Seesaw. It is wonderful and easy to navigate. Our kids can complete work and send it back to us. They can even video themselves reading, presenting an oral report on a project, taking a test, and so on. There are even amazing activities to add to the curriculum for the kids to complete.
Our kids had fun while remote learning!
Some are even taking advantage and learning things we don't teach in school, like reading recipes and cooking!
We also throw in some fun days! Here are some pictures of Show N Tell!
I am so excited to get back into the classroom and see all the children! I've missed their smiling faces so much over the last few months! I have worked very hard to make sure my classroom is safe for your children. We will be sure to practice all the safest ways to remain healthy as we learn. This year we definitely expect things will be different. However, we have managed to make it through the past few months, and together we will continue to be successful here at SJS. Having at-home support and open lines of communication is an essential part of an outstanding school year.
A Note From Me
My name is Marcie Wintersteen. I am the third grade teacher at St. Joseph School. I graduated from Bloomsburg University with a Bachlor's Degree in Elementary Education. I worked as a TSS, Therapeutic Staff Support, for a few years before landing my teaching job here at SJS. This will be my 19th year teaching. I'm so excited to start the new year and can't wait to see all of my students.
I could not ask for a better school in which to teach. Students at St. Joseph School have fun in a positive and safe learning atmosphere. We believe every day is a new opportunity to learn. Our goal is to prepare our students to be successful in all they do and to be life-long learners. Our small classroom sizes promote a warm, caring, nurturing environment where your child(ren) can grow in their confidence and self-esteem. Our school is a family, and I am honored to work with such professional and supportive people.
Parents, please feel free to contact me anytime via email or parent square. I will respond as soon as I am available.

Outstanding - Your child has made above the line choices today and has been asked to clip up 2 times. You should be proud! They get to choose out of the prize box.
Great Job - Your child has made above the line choices and has been asked to clip up 1 time. Again, you should be proud!
Ready to Learn - Each child begins their day here. If you end your day here, that means you still did a great job today. Be proud!

Teacher's Choice - Your child has made 2 below the line choices and has been asked to clip down twice. There will be a consequence from the teacher.
